‘This is my first year at $100 million’… Darvish wins award for worst first half of career
San Diego’s Darvish Yu had a rough first half. It was the worst first half of his career.
Darvish started the Dodgers’ 2023 Major League Baseball home game against the New York Mets at Petco Park in San Diego, California, on Aug. 8 and allowed three runs on seven hits, three walks, one hit-by-pitch, and four strikeouts in five innings. He broke a 3-3 tie and didn’t get the win.
The first inning was shaky. A walk and a single put runners on first and second with no outs. A wild pitch loaded the bases and an infield single gave up the first run of the game. Fortunately, Marte got the next two outs to keep the damage to a minimum.
He seemed to regain his composure in the second inning when he worked out of a bases-loaded jam, but gave up another run in the top of the third when Francisco Lindor homered to cut the lead to 3-1. The 96-mph pitch was high and in the zone.카지노사이트
He took the win into his own hands in the fifth inning. One out later, he gave up a single to Lindor and a stolen base. Alonso induced a grounder to second, but Lindor advanced to third. He then gave up a single to Daniel Vogelback to tie the game at 3-3.
Darvish was replaced by Adrian Morejon in the sixth inning to close out the game. Darvish finished the first half with a 5-6 record and a 4.87 ERA in 15 games.
“Darvish had his worst first half in a season without injuries,” said Japan’s Junichi Sports, “crying over a narrow strike zone and bad luck. His 58 percent strike rate (58 of 100 pitches) was second only to his April 4 start against Arizona (59 percent) when he pitched in the sixth inning.”
San Diego signed Darvish to a massive six-year, $108 million contract before the season. He’s in the first year of that deal and hasn’t lived up to expectations.
