More CJ Cup schedule shift? US Golf Channel “Promoting 7 PGA Tour Events This Fall”

In the fall of this year, it was reported that The CJ Cup was omitted from the so-called “fall series” of the PGA Tour, which will be held after the 2022-23 season. The prospect of going through a schedule adjustment is dominant.

The US Golf Channel said on the 6th (Korean time), “As the PGA Tour switches to an annual schedule (starting next year) and selects a reimagined lineup focused on tournament stars, the fate of fall events remains uncertain.” He introduced the schedule for the fall of 2023, which he obtained himself. The schedule has been adjusted so that 7 competitions will be held, omitting 2 from the 9 competitions held from September to November of last year. The Fortinet Championship will be held September 14-17, followed by the Sanderson Farms Championship (October 5-8), Shriners Children’s Open (October 12-15), and Zojo Championship (October 19-22). Following the schedule, the World Wide Technology Championship (November 2-5), Bermuda Championship (November 9-12), and RSM Classic (November 16-19) conclude the schedule.

However, it is notable that The CJ Cup, which was held in mid-October, was not included in the schedule. The Golf Channel said, “The CJ Cup and the Houston Open have been removed from the tentative schedule. It remains to be seen whether these tournaments will be moved (schedule) or will disappear from the tour lineup completely.” CJ Group signed a contract with the PGA Tour in October 2016 to hold the tournament until 2026. As The CJ Cup has recently been steadily increasing its prize money and has grown into a tournament that more elite golfers are looking for, it is analyzed that the schedule will be adjusted to next year and included in the 2024 season schedule. 스포츠토토

The PGA Tour is making significant adjustments between this year and next year against the LIV Golf Invitational Series. From the 2024 season, the season will open in January. To this end, once the FedEx Cup playoff schedule in August is over, golfers who have not been fully seeded will compete through the fall season. In addition, an international competition series will be promoted in which players within the 50th place in the FedEx Cup points ranking and those who performed well in the fall 2023 season will participate.
