Mattingly Helps Found a New Team… Appointed Advisor to Nashville

Toronto Blue Jays bench coach Don Mattingly takes on another job.

‘USA Today’ reported on the 10th (Korean time) that Mattingly had been appointed as an advisor to the Nashville Sounds, which are preparing to participate in the major leagues.

As a starting first baseman for the New York Yankees during his active career, he won one MVP, nine Gold Gloves, and three Silver Sluggers. After his retirement, he turned into a leader and coached the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins. He was voted the 2020 National League Manager of the Year.

After stepping down from Miami coaching at the end of last season, he took over as Toronto bench coach ahead of the 2023 season. The advisory role will parallel this role.

Nashville is the most ambitious place to start a new major league team. Preparing for the upcoming 32-team expansion. However, the major leagues are sticking to the position that the problem of new stadiums in Oakland and Tampa Bay must be resolved first.
