Manoa demoted to minors after lasting less than five innings…Toronto to go with five-man starting rotation

By Sang-Cheol Lee = The Major League Baseball (MLB) Toronto Blue Jays have trimmed their starting rotation to five by sending Alex Manoa to the minors.

The club optioned Manoa to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Wednesday (July 12) and added reliever Hagen Danner to the roster.

Manoa’s trip to the minors comes a day after he allowed four runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts in four innings against the Cleveland Indians the previous day (Nov. 11).

This is the second time Manoa has been demoted to the minors this season.

Manoa, who was previously selected as the Opening Day starter, was sent to the Rookie League in early June to rebuild after struggling with a 1-7 record and 6.36 ERA in 13 games.

When he returned to the majors a month later, Manoa was up and down, going 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA in six starts. On three occasions, he struggled to manage his pitch count, failing to make it past the fifth inning.카지노사이트

Manoa finished third in the American League Cy Young Award voting last year with a 16-7 record, 180 strikeouts, and a 2.24 ERA in 31 games. This year, however, he has struggled mightily with his command, going 3-9 with a 5.87 ERA in 19 games with 79 strikeouts.

With Manoa’s demotion to the minors, Toronto will be down to five starters – Hyun-jin Ryu, Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassett, Jose Berrios and Yusei Kikuchi.

Berrios, Bassitt, and Hyun-jin Ryu will start a three-game series at home against the Chicago Cubs from April 12-14.
