Kim Se-young “My goal is to participate in the Paris Olympics with the International Crown”
“I forgot the sluggish past two years. This is a new beginning.”
This is the resolution of Kim Se-young (30, Mediheal), the ‘red pants wizard’. She will participate in the LPGA Tour Honda Thailand (total prize money of 1.7 million dollars) held at Siam CC Old Course (par 72) near Pattaya, Thailand for four days from the 23rd.
Kim Se-young debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2015, starting with three wins that year, and has won a total of 12 wins (including one major tournament), at least one win every year until 2020. However, in the past 2021 and 2022 he has failed to add to the multiplier he has been following each year.
In particular, last year had the worst year since his debut. This is because he participated in a total of 20 competitions and finished the season at 22nd in the money list and 37th in the Race to CME Globe rankings with five ‘Top 10’ finishes without a win.
It was a year that put to shame many modifiers attached to his name, such as the red pants wizard, ‘master of reversals’, and ‘the girl who calls miracles’.
So, the resolution for this season is inevitably different from the previous one. It is for this reason that Kim Sei-young moved the season, which started in March last year, to February.
He entered the competition site after training comparable to real combat with his teacher, Pro Lee Kyung-hoon, near Bangkok, near the fierce battleground. Ahead of the opening of the tournament, Kim Se-young said, “Since January, I have had intensive field training with my coach in Thailand.”
Kim Se-young made a superpower to change clubs to escape this season’s slump. I spent a lot of time adapting to the club so as not to repeat the mistakes I made last year.
Kim Se-young said, “It took time to get used to the club. Overall, I think I trained,” he said. “Golf isn’t just about shots. The short game and putting were just as important as the shot, so I needed a lot of time.”
Kim Se-young had a healing time after the final match last year. During that period, I forgot about golf and enjoyed traveling while eating delicious food.
And at the beginning of the year, I set a goal for this season by going to the east coast of Gangwon-do and watching the sunrise. It is none other than raising the Rolex World Ranking. Currently, Kim Sei-young’s world ranking is 27th, the 6th highest among Korean players.
He said, “There are many regrets. So, he said, “My goal is to raise the rankings as much as possible,” he said. I hope to work hard step by step like that and come out with a satisfactory result in the last competition of the season.”
Sei-young Kim’s obsession with world rankings seems to have nothing to do with participating in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Kim Se-young participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as a national team member, but failed to win her long-awaited medal after finishing tied for 25th and tied for 9th, respectively.
He said, “If I get another chance, I want to clear away the regret of not winning an Olympic medal.”
Prior to participating in the Olympics, he expressed his will to be selected as a national representative for the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown. This national competition will be held in May at the TPC Harding Club near San Francisco, California. 토토사이트
The participating countries are Korea, the United States, Japan, Sweden, England, Thailand, Australia, and China. This year, the number of participating players (4 players) per country is determined by the world rankings as of April 3rd.
Kim Se-young said, “The competition representing our country has a different meaning. Having played in that tournament, I know very well how meaningful it is. So I have a strong desire to participate more.”
Meanwhile, Kim Se-young starts the first round of the Honda LPGA Thailand at 8:12 am (local time) with Madeline Sakstrom (Sweden) and Saki Baba.
