The striker Mikel confessed his past to was Mohamed Salah (Liverpool). Salah joined Chelsea in 2014, but had to be turned away by Mourinho. He was loaned to Fiorentina, AS Roma, etc. without being able to adapt to Chelsea, and eventually left Chelsea in 2016.
Mikel told Britain’s ‘Dale Mail’ that “Coach Mourinho lashed out at Salah in the locker room for his poor performance in one game.”
He continued, “At the time, I also felt that Salah was playing badly, but coach Mourinho hit Salah hard and really tore him to pieces. I saw Salah crying. Mourinho told Salah he wouldn’t be able to play on the pitch, and Salah actually did. I couldn’t get back on the field,” he confessed.
Losing the manager’s trust, Salah was eventually forced to leave Chelsea. Salah, who left Chelsea in 2016, spent a brief stint with AS Roma before joining Liverpool in 2017. Afterwards, Salah won the EPL top scorer and showed off his dignity as the best striker, leading Liverpool’s golden age.
Mikel was delighted with Salah’s change. “It’s amazing to see that Salah is the best player in the world now. He’s physically stronger. I don’t know what happened to him.”
