Dodgers lefty Urias arrested on domestic violence charges

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias, 27, has been arrested by police.

Local media outlets, including ESPN, reported that Urias was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, citing an announcement from the Los Angeles Police Department on May 5 (KST).

According to the release, Urias was arrested by police around 11 p.m. local time on Sunday and taken into custody around 1 a.m. local time. He was released around 4:47 a.m. after posting $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 27 local time.

His team, the Dodgers, said through their official channels, “We are aware of the incident involving Urias. All elements are being evaluated and he will not be traveling with the team.”

The Dodgers begin a three-game series against the Miami Marlins on May 5.

This is not the first time Urias has been arrested for domestic violence. In May 2019, he was arrested by police after he became physically abusive during an argument with a woman in a mall parking lot.

He escaped justice, but was suspended 20 games by Major League Baseball for violating the Domestic Violence Protocol.

It remains to be seen if Urias will escape justice this time, as he did four years ago. But if precedent is any indication, league discipline seems unlikely.

ESPN reports that since Major League Baseball adopted the Domestic Violence Protection Agreement in 2015, no player has ever violated it twice.카지노사이트

The Major League Baseball office is reportedly investigating the matter. He will be placed on paid leave during the investigation. It’s unlikely we’ll see him on the mound for the foreseeable future.

Urias, a native of Mexico who was once called the Dodgers’ top pitching prospect, went 60-25 with a 3.11 ERA in 158 appearances over eight seasons in the big leagues.

In 2021, he led the league in wins with 20, and in 2022, he led the National League in that category with a 2.16 ERA and finished third in the Cy Young Award voting.

In 2023, he slowed down a bit, going 11-8 with a 4.60 ERA in 21 games and 117 1/3 innings pitched. He is eligible for free agency after this season.
