Choi Ji-Man traded for Kim Ha-Sung and Han Sotobab SD

Choi joins veteran Rich Hill in a new uniform at this season’s trade deadline
Choi Ji-Man joins Ha-Sung Kim (San Diego Padres) on the roster at the trade deadline. MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball (MLB), broke the news of the trade between the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego on Feb. 2 (KST).

“At the trade deadline, San Diego acquired veteran left-hander Rich Hill and left-handed hitter and infield resource Ji-Man Choi,” MLB.com reported.

In exchange for Choi and Hill, the Padres sent three prospects to Pittsburgh: left-hander Zack Wolf, outfielder Estuar Herrero, and infielder Alfonso Rivas.

Choi played with Bae in Pittsburgh, but with this trade, he will be teammates with Kim for the rest of the season.

For Choi, San Diego is his sixth team. He made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Angels in 2016.

Since then, he has played for the New York Yankees, Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Rays, and Pittsburgh. Prior to his MLB debut, Choi played in the minors for the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles.

Choi injured his left Achilles tendon after the start of this season and spent three months on the disabled list (IL) before returning to action on July 8.

Prior to the trade, Choi was batting just 2-for-5 with six home runs and 11 RBIs, but in his last eight starts, he’s been hitting for the cycle, including four home runs.

Hill is the oldest player in the entire MLB (1980). He went 7-10 with a 4.76 ERA this season with Pittsburgh.

He made his MLB debut with the Chicago Cubs in 2005 and has since played for Baltimore, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians (now Guardians), Angels, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay, and New York Mets.바카라사이트

His career record is 89-69 with a 3.93 ERA in 372 games.

According to MLB.com, “San Diego wanted a left-handed behemoth. Choi will start as a designated hitter when the opposition is facing a right-handed starter and will be available as a pinch-hitter when a left-handed pitcher takes the mound.”

“San Diego was active in the trade market this offseason. They added a long-hitting left-handed hitter and starting pitching,” he said, adding that the team’s weaknesses have been addressed. Meanwhile, Choi and Hill will be eligible for free agency after this season.
