84 players confirmed for this year’s US Open… Woods not among them

Kicks off next month on Nov. 16…156 players in the field

Golfing emperor Tiger Woods (USA – pictured) will miss the third men’s golf major of the season, the US Open, due to injury.

On Wednesday morning, the United States Golf Association (USGA) announced the 84 players eligible to compete in the US Open, which begins next month on June 16, without qualifying. As expected, Woods did not make the list. He underwent surgery on March 20 after being injured in a car accident in early 2021 and is expected to take eight to 12 weeks to recover.

Woods had planned to play in all four majors this year. Woods made the cut at the Masters, the first major of the season, last month, but withdrew before the third round after aggravating plantar fasciitis in the rainy conditions. Woods skipped the U.S. Open following the season’s second major, the U.S. Professional Golf Association (PGA) Championship, which concluded on Dec. 22, and is not expected to play in July’s The Open.토토사이트

The U.S. Open has a field of 156 players. The field includes the U.S. Open champion of the past decade, last year’s U.S. Open top 10, and recent major winners. The top 60 in the world rankings as of Aug. 22 are also eligible. To date, 84 players have qualified, with the remainder of the field to be determined through qualifying. Eleven players from the LIV Golf Invitational made the cut. Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson (USA) and Cameron Smith (AUS), who finished atop the leaderboard at the PGA Championship on Feb. 22, are among them. Koepka, Dustin Johnson and DeChambeau are all former U.S. Open champions. South Korea will be represented by Lim Sung-jae, Kim Joo-hyung, Kim Siwoo, and Lee Kyung-hoon. The U.S. Open will be held at Los Angeles Country Club in Los Angeles, California, starting June 16.
